The Isamu Tagaya Memorial Iskra Prize for Vaccine Research is sponsored by the Iskra Vaccine and Medical Care Foundation and named after Dr. Isamu Tagaya, who was instrumental in the emergency importation of live polio vaccine from Russia at the time of the polio epidemic in 1960 at Iskra Industry Co.
The 48th Iskra Award for Isamu Tagaya Memorial Vaccine Research was awarded to Associate Professor Koji Kohiyama.
